Perhaps this has happened to you: you have sent your screenplay to competitions and nothing happened. Maybe you sent it in to an assessor and got a "pass" rating, yet you have total faith in it as a good story. So what's wrong? Where do you go now? Well, try me.
Every writer needs an editor. Even the best writers in the best newspapers have their work edited before it is published. When we write, we see what we think we see, but this is not always what a reader sees. This is why an editor may rework your creation, without changing your story, to be more readable or appealing to others.
Screenwriting is not easy. Scripts can take years to develop, despite being only 120 pages of sparse typing. It's a lot easier to write too much than to write just what is required, and this is where an editor can help you get it to an industry standard.
What can I do for you?
What I do is read your screenplay several times and embed my comments in it, so when you read it after it comes back, my notes are there--where they apply. I'll be critical where criticsim is warranted and I'll make suggestions as to how the story, the structure and the pacing can be improved. Refer to the FAQs for more information.
What you will not get from me is 5-10 pages of notes, much of which is generic and could apply to any screenplay. I believe every writer should be given as much encouragement as possible to develop the craft.
Sending me your screenplay.
To be fair to you, I won't work on all screenplays. Just email me and ask if you can send yours. If I have the time, I'll tell you to do so and then I'll let you know if I can do it. All that happens then is you send me USD350 via PayPal. You can use your credit card in most currencies, not just American dollars. When I get the payment I'll start work on it within 24 hours. You'll have it back inside a week.
